don't use cheap foam tape that is called an edge guard by others. Plus, this plastic guard can be removed and used again. Just simply apply new electrical tape. Don't use other brands that make you use SUPER GLUE. Have you eve gotten that stuff on your fingers? It's almost impossible to remove from your paddle. Don't do it.
THIS PLASTIC PIECE WILL PROTECT YOUR BOARD FROM RECEIVING CHIPS.
DON'T USE CLEAR EDGING THAT WILL EVENTUALLY TURN YELLOW FROM THE SUN. THAT'S WHY ALL THE TOP MANUFACTURER'S USE BLACK AS IT HANDLES UV RAYS A LOT BETTER!!!!
THIS PADDLE EDGE GUARD IS MORE TO PROTECT YOUR BOARD THAN THE ACTUAL PADDLE ITSELF.

THE REASON IS BECAUSE THE HARD SHARP EDGE OF MOST CARBON PADDLES TEND TO CHIP THE SIDE OF PADDLEBOARDS.
THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN RAIL TAPE, SINCE THAT LIMITS YOU TO ONLY USING 1 SINGLE BOARD. IF YOU USE A PADDLE EDGE GUARD THAN YOU ARE SAFE USING ANY BOARD!!!!!
THIS PIECE EASILY MOLDS AROUND THE EDGE OF YOUR PADDLE THEN YOU SIMPLY RUN SOME ELECTRICAL TAPE AROUND THE TOP TO HOLD THE EDGES IN PLACE.
The other expensivemanufacturer's version comes with a very small roll of Electrical tape. The difference between theirs and my "Poor man's model" is that I don't supply the Electrical tape as stated several times in this listing. I figured that most people already have some electrical tape at home, so that allows me to reduce the price.

THAT YOU CAN'T GET SUPER GLUE OFF OF YOUR 0 PADDLE WITHOUT GRINDING IT OFF!!!!!
Electrical tape is a lot better, because it is so much easier to remove. MOST ELECTRICAL TAPE WILL STAY ON THE PADDLE FOR MONTHS IF NOT YEARS. I ACTUALLY PADDLEBOARD, AND MY GUARD IS STILL ON MY PADDLE FROM 20 MONTHS AGO.
HAVE YOU EVER GOTTEN SUPER GLUE or
epoxy
ON YOUR FINGERS BEFORE? THEN YOU KNOW IT'S PRETTY HARD TO REMOVE. THERE'S NO WORRIES ABOUT GLUE RESIDUE WITH MY EDGE GUARD, BECAUSE WE RECOMMEND ELECTRICAL TAPE, AS MOST OF THE HIGH END MANUFACTURERS USE.
If there is any tape residue then just simply remove it with some acetone, and your paddle will look brand new again. Just be careful not to get the acetone on your paddle logo, because it might damage it.

So basically, start to mold the edging around the blade, then when you get back to the top of the other side, cut it with scissors, then wrap a piece of electrical tape around the top of the paddle three times to cover up the two ends, to make sure they don't pull loose. The trim glue (that is already inside the trim) will dry and hold the trim to the paddle, and the electrical tape (that you supply) will hold the ends from coming loose.

. THIS EDGING HAS STICKY GLUE INSIDE OF IT TO GRASP THE EDGE OF YOUR PADDLE.
IT IS RECOMMENDED FOR NEW PADDLERS TO USE THIS UNTIL THEY GET ACCLIMATED WITH THE PADDLE. IT REALLY DOESN'T ADD MUCH WEIGHT TO THE PADDLE AND BLENDS IN WELL WITH BLACK CARBON PADDLES.
